The drum screen provides a simple, reliable solution for removing large quantities of coarse contamination with relatively coarse filtration.

It suits continuous processes with high dirt loads, such as raw juice filtration in sugar factories or initial wastewater treatment.

Rotating stainless steel AISI 304 screen drum. Screen opening varies from 10 to 3000 micron (to be determined). Inlet at the rear or top, outlet below or at the rear. Optional cover and collection tank.
 

Applications

Screen drums remove relatively coarse particles (larger than 0,10 mm) from wastewater streams. Common uses include greenhouse water filtration, fish/meat processing, composting and food production.
Rotary filters are available in various sizes depending on capacity.

Specific features

The drum screen is entirely stainless steel.
The wedge wire drum is easy to clean and minimises clogging.

Liquid filtration

Process water or wastewater enters at the inlet. Solids carried over the rotating screen are removed below by an adjustable scraper. Separated water exits through the drum bottom. Nozzles rinse the drum immediately after the scraper, with rinse water collected separately from the filtrate.

Filter capacity

Capacity depends on the filter surface dimensions.

Particles collect on the screens and rotate to the top of the drum.

Spray nozzles clean the screen and the filter cake falls down. A hopper (arrow) collects and discharges the cake inside the drum.

The filter and surrounding structure are entirely stainless steel 316.
An electric gearmotor drives the drum at 10 revolutions per minute.
Level switches can regulate drum rotation according to the dirt load.
