Practical information on liquid filtration, choosing filter media, temporary filter systems and maintenance. These articles help you prepare your filtration enquiry.
FILTER SELECTION
Filter bags or filter cartridges: which solution suits your application?
Do you want to remove particles from a liquid? Both filter bags and filter cartridges can be used. The right choice depends on your liquid, the contamination and your requirements for the filtered product.
Start with your process
First establish which particles you want to capture and which filtration accuracy you need. The required flow rate, temperature, operating pressure and liquid properties also matter. The filter material, seals and housing must be suitable for these conditions.
Compare design and performance
Holland Filter supplies different types of filter cartridges, including depth filters and versions for absolute-rated filtration. Filter bags also come in different materials, designs and filtration ratings. A micron rating alone is therefore insufficient to compare two filters: performance and the requirements of your application must also be considered.
Look beyond the purchase price
Consider dirt-holding capacity, differential pressure, filter media replacement and operating costs as well. A suitable filter solution fits both your process and the way you operate and maintain the system. Technical specifications and, where necessary, practical tests help with this decision.

RENTAL
Rent a filter system for a temporary application or practical test
Do you need a filter system temporarily, or would you like to discuss testing a filter in your process? Holland Filter rents out filter systems and advises you on the options for your application.
Discuss what you want to achieve
Describe the liquid you want to filter, the contamination you want to remove and the required result quality. Also state the required capacity, process conditions and rental period. This enables our sales team to assess which solution suits your needs.
Prepare a practical test with a clear goal
If your enquiry includes a test, it helps to define the objective beforehand. For example, do you want to assess performance in your own process or gather information to select filter media? Holland Filter can discuss the technical information and practical preparations required.
Agree on the implementation in advance
Discuss the necessary connections, installation space and on-site operation. Also ask about availability, rental terms and any support. These arrangements depend on the system and your application.

SERVICE
ABF backwash filter maintenance: inspection, cleaning and wear
ABF filters clean the filter element automatically by backwashing while the liquid continues to flow. This automatic cleaning reduces maintenance requirements, but periodic inspection and maintenance remain necessary.
What does maintenance involve?
Holland Filter performs annual on-site inspections of ABF filters. Our technicians clean the filter screens and replace parts subject to wear. This allows us to assess the system condition and carry out the required maintenance.
Watch for changes in operation
Has the differential pressure, flow rate or backwashing behaviour changed? Record what you observe and the process conditions involved. This helps our technical service team assess your enquiry. The correct approach depends on the filter model and application.
Prepare your service enquiry
State the ABF filter type, application, available technical information and maintenance requirements. Describe any irregularities as clearly as possible. You can indicate in the form that your enquiry concerns service.

FILTRATION ADVICE
Which information is needed for suitable filtration advice?
Suitable filtration advice starts with understanding your process. You do not need to know every technical detail before contacting us. However, the following information helps us discuss your enquiry more effectively.
Describe the liquid and objective
State which liquid you want to filter and why. Do you want to improve product quality, remove particles or protect equipment? Describe the contamination and, if known, the required filtration accuracy.
Specify the process conditions
- Required capacity or flow rate, for example in m³ per hour.
- Liquid temperature and operating pressure.
- Liquid properties relevant to the filter material.
- Continuous or temporary use and any process fluctuations.
Tell us about existing equipment
Do you already have a filter system? State the filter type, current filter media and the problem you want to solve. Details about connections, available space and experience with the existing filter are also useful.
Start with what you know
Use our advice form to describe your application and enter the information available. Our specialists discuss any additional information needed with you. Where appropriate, technical specifications can be supplemented with practical tests.
